UN-Habitat, ADB and partners launch climate resilience project

16 September 2016, Phnom Penh, Cambodia – A consortium comprising of UN-Habitat, Forum Syd and Save the Earth Cambodia with the financial support from the Asian Development Bank launched a project in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment in Cambodia on mainstreaming climate resilience into development planning.

The project is to focus on: mainstreaming climate concerns in sub-national development planning; Integration of gender considerations into climate change adaptation; and building Monitoring, reporting and evaluation system of adaptation investments at sub national level. The capacity development, training, and enhancing awareness are key activities of the project and pilot projects to be implemented in next three years (Aug 2016 – Aug 2019).

Habitat Programme Manager for Cambodia Sok Vanna, Project Lead Aktheruzzman Sano and other experts met the Minister, Mr. Say Samal and the Senior Officers of the Ministry of Environment in Phnom Penh to discuss and seek advice on project coordination and implementation.

The project will be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Women’s Affairs and National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development of Cambodia.
