UN-HABITAT will hold its second Environmental Technology Expert Group Meeting 'Technical Cooperation for Sustainable Environmental Development in Asia and the Pacific Region' on 30 September 2010. This year, the meeting will focus on the topic of 'energy'; clean, renewable, reusable and alternative energy. Experts from Asia and the Pacific will be invited to speak about their current energy situations, issues, and potentials for collaboration with the technologies available in Japan. From Japan, a wide range of energy solutions will be introduced; from the latest hydrogen energy power, geothermal and solar technologies, to a more sustainable and smaller scale bio-gas plant run by a township government, micro hydro power and household level solar ovens. Through these presentations and discussions, the meeting aim to illuminate potential challenges and possibilities for collaboration and partnerships, through follow up workshops and small scale pilot projects.
