As economic development and urbanization are rapidly progressing in Asia, various problems are occurring in the cities. Especially, deterioration of living environment and natural environment in cities are becoming serious problems as a result of congested population, lack of basic services, such as infrastructure and welfare, and air, water and soil pollution.
In this conference, journalists discussed problems of deterioration of living environment and natural environment resulting from urbanization and how cities in Asia could cooperate to solve those problems in order to achieve “balanced urbanization”
